Substance Abuse Treatment

Many of the youth referred to OJRC have significant alcohol and other illegal substance use/abuse histories. An assessment will be conducted during the youth's diagnostic assessment with their therapist from The Village Network to evaluate the possible need for alcohol and drug counseling services. If the assessment validates a need for individual sessions, services will be rendered within 15 calendar days after the completion of the substance abuse evaluation. If the assessment validates a need for group sessions, youth will participate in two groups each week throughout their placement. Support counseling such as Narcotics Anonymous or Alcoholics Anonymous will be implemented based on the recommendation of youth's initial evaluation after the resident has progressed through the individual or group sessions. Support services may be included in the resident's release plan.

Substance Abuse Testing

It is the policy of OJRC to screen all youth for use of illegal substances immediately upon admission. This includes, but is not limited to, alcohol, cocaine, marijuana, amphetamines, PCP, and morphine. Those youth who test positive for a substance will continue to receive regular screenings until the results return negative. All youth will continue to be subjected to random alcohol and drug screenings while in placement.
